An ardent passion for nature’s scenic beauty brought me and my group of students to Varkala. It is an exotic place that lies 50km north to the city of Thiruvananthapuram and is quite famous for a scintillating Papanasam Beach. I was heading a group of 7 students, who have been an ardent lover of nature and wanted to go for a scenic walk and even do some camping to enjoy the holiday to the utmost. Varkala is the perfect place to experience the best views around and we set on an enjoyable walk for 1 hour and a half. In fact, it was a promenade built by the Department of Tourism that paved way for us to take pleasure in a walk that keeps us close to the Mother Nature.
While going on the northern end of Varkala, we happened to pass Odayam and stopped for a while. The beach side with cliff was so exotic that we could not stop ourselves from taking few pictures. We also happened to learn about the Chinese fishing nets and their history. It was really fascinating to see such a huge net being used to catch fishes. Indeed, some of the fishers also showed us a variety of fishes caught by them. Some looked so unusual; while, many had a mix of different colors. And definitely, I took their pictures too. From there on, we played with our ball on the beach and ate South Indian delicacies available at the snacks parlors there. I would say that our walk towards Kappil started on an excellent note.
From there on, me and my group of students headed for the next stop called as Edava. In fact, it is a coastal village in Thiruvananthapuram that stretches for quite long. What attracted us to this beautiful place is that it is surrounded with proudly standing cliff, golden sandy beaches and pristine backwaters with canals as well as lakes. It was truly majestic and we all were amazed on seeing such a realistic beauty that has managed or gain recognition on the world map. We all stopped there and put down our bags to enjoy a perfect holiday at the real place.
After passing Odayam and Edava, we reached the exotic place called Kappil. If you are willing to come to this place and enjoy the scenic beauty, the nearest airport will be Trivandrum Airport that is located at a distance of 1 hour from the city central. Along with his, traveling in the buses is not tough at all and happens to be connected with all the major cities in Southern part of India. The overall trip was really enjoyable and I went back with my group having lovable memories of this beautiful place.
