On my recent trip to Varkala, I had a very pleasant experience in regards with the mundane but cumbersome issue of lodging and boarding. On reaching the hotel I was given two options of accommodation: one was the hotel and the other was the organic huts, both at Vedanta Wake Up. I was excited on hearing the hut option and selected it without a second thought. After the checking in procedures, I was taken to my hut by a staff member. I was excited to see my hut and was awestruck at its sight. The roof was of coconut leaves and the walls of bamboo. Being a sort of Eco-enthusiast, I couldn’t have asked more than this. I entered in to see that all the classy amenities were provided in it, there was an LCD television and a coffee table for two and was equally comfortable as any other room in the conventional brick and mortar hotel.
I was more than happy to get such a place; I threw my luggage around and simply lay down on to the bed. My organic hut was hand crafted by the local people and opened into a green lawn which had sitting area. The cleanliness and quietness of the place was just perfect. There were no bits of trash lying anywhere despite the place being full of tourists. The garden had coconut trees all around and a water well both of which added more to the rustic beauty and simplicity of the hutment.
Afterwards I moved into the café to have lunch. The café had wonderful paintings of the beaches around Varkala which pushed me to take up the adventurous trip soon. I was surprised to find the variety of food dishes which were waiting for me! Merely by the sight of food I was satisfied to my tummy’s core! I sat down and decided to have Sadya for lunch. The food service was very quick and all the food was fresh and hot.
The hotel was well connected to the places in and around Varkala. My tour being planned by the tours and travels department of Vedanta Wake up, they arranged car facility for my expeditions and also appointed a guide for me. The staff members were always ready to help with travelling, booking and planning my tour. Every evening during my stay there, I visited the game parlour where various activities were organised by the hotel so that the tourists could interact. I spent most of the time in my hut or the lawn by reading more about Varkala. Also I interacted with the fellow tourists who were my hut-neighbours and came to know of lots of exciting stuff about Varkala from them.
I still cannot believe that I stayed in a hut, experienced the simple life while I was actually staying in a classy hotel! All this beautiful and unforgettable adventure was only possible because of Vedanta Wake up. Now whenever I revisit Kerala, I would definitely go to Vedanta Wake Up to re-experience the simplicity of life without much burden to my pockets.
