It was first birthday after wedding, so the preparations were on full swing between me and my hubby. We were planning an outing on my birthday. He asked me about my choice of place and I said Kanyakumari because I love South Indian towns as they are blessed with nature’s beauty. He was happy to know that my choice was same as his. So we did not delayed at all and booked flight tickets. Now, it was time for us to find a hotel that could fit within out budget. So, we sat with our Apple laptop to hunt a lot and finalized on Vedanta Wake up. This is a budget hotel, comfortable and peaceful location was the thing that attracted us to the hotel.
So, we boarded the flight on the day before my birthday to Thiruvananthapuram as it was the nearest airport to the place. There, we were welcomed by a cab driver, who came to pick us up and take to the destined hotel. Certainly, the drive was so beautiful as Kanyakumari is tranquil in its best form. On reaching the hotel, we were greeted with a bouquet of flowers in token of my pre-birthday moment. I was happy and the bell boy took our luggage to the room. We were so tired that my parents asked hotel staff to serve the dinner in the room itself. To this, they agreed and we felt humbled to see such a wonderful gesture.
Next day, we woke up to the alarm of the hotel staff and were asked to join for the breakfast. We got ready and reached the hall of the hotel to see that there was a mini-party being organized. Now, that was quite surprising for me; but, the manager told us that it has been organized by the hotel staff to celebrate my birthday. We were really obliged to seeing such a wonderful arrangement. After cutting the cake and some snacks, we received a lot of wishes from fellow travellers. Followed by this, we headed to the tour of Thiruvalluvar statue, Vattakottai fort and Olakarauvi waterfalls. Quite a scenic place, I must say because the Western Ghats stood proud in the background.
After a wonderful day of sightseeing, we reached hotel in the night to taste lip-smacking South Indian delicacies. And on the other day, the hotel staff had organized a trip for us to Kanyakumari temple, St. Francis Church and Vivekananda Memorial. All these three places exhibited South Indian tradition and colonial architecture. Literally saying, the visit to Kanyakumari was a perfect decision to celebrate birthday in the lap of nature. Then, in the night, we were served continental dinner. Next day was our last in the Kanyakumari, which we spent in dong some shopping as we had to leave the hotel for flight back home in the afternoon. Such a wonderful hotel with superb hospitality that I would recommend it to all!
